Jamie is the Director of Baseball Operations and also an
ISSA Certified Personal Trainer here at Sharp End Athletics. He is originally
from Odessa, TX, but has lived in Austin, TX for the last 29 years. He is a
1999 graduate of James Bowie High School in Austin, TX where he lettered in
Baseball, Football, and Track. He was a 2-time All-District Selection as an
outfielder and pitcher. In the summer of 1998 he played for Austin Slam, and after
graduation Jamie played for the Austin Wings before earning a scholarship to
Panola Junior College in Carthage, TX. In 2001 he was selected to the Texas-New
Mexico Junior College All-Star Game as a starting pitcher. After Junior College
he went to Texas State University where he triple majored in Psychology,
Philosophy, and Kinesiology.
Jamie
has a great depth of experience in athletics. From 1999-2009 Jamie was a coach
at the University of Texas Instructional and Development and Elite Baseball
Camps during the summers. He worked with a plethora of coaches there including
Augie Garrido, Frank Anderson, Tom Holliday, and Skip Johnson. He was an
Athletic Coordinator at Deerpark Middle School in RRISD from 2007-2012 where he
taught Special Education, Physical Education, Leadership, and coached Football,
Basketball, and Track. Jamie was the Pitching Coach at McNeil High School in
2012 where the Mavericks made it to the Regional Semi-Finals. He was selected
as the Defensive Coordinator for the Inaugural Football University
Middle-School All-American Game in 2009. His team won 31-7 and had some high
profile talent such as Tyrone Swoopes and Karl Malone Jr.
Jamie
has been the General Manager for The Austin Mudcats Semi-Pro Baseball Organization
since 2008. He has directed the personnel changes, managed the team website,
and helped build community relations for the Cats. The organization has had over 60 players
affiliated with professional baseball including the late Brad Halsey who
pitched with the New York Yankees. He was also selected to the National
Semi-Professional Baseball Hall of Fame in 2015. He has also coached a 17U
select baseball team at Action Sports and a 10U select baseball team at The
Zone.
Jamie
has trained athletes of all ages across the sports spectrum and specializes in
the areas of speed, power, agility, and muscle patterning. He utilizes
exercises and drills that allow the nervous system to recruit the necessary
muscle fibers to improve these areas. Jamie produces fast, quick, and strong
athletes that can apply this newly acquired muscle patterning to their
respective sports and maintain their gains. He believes in the Sharp End
Athletics philosophy that training the Nervous System is the future of athletic
training.
